On Friday 9th March 2018, Mrs Arlene Foster (DUP leader) visited Wellington College Belfast as part of the Year 14 Talks programme and spoke in front of 120 pupils, including some from lower year groups who were keen to hear the former First Minister speak. Mrs Foster began with a 10-minute introduction to explain her involvement in politics and the core problems faced by our local politicians. This was followed by the ‘Question and Answer’ session which saw our pupils quiz Mrs Foster about a range of topics.
The questions covered everything from the restoration of devolution in Northern Ireland; equal marriage rights; man-made climate change; through to the Irish Language Act and beyond. Mrs Foster responded well to our pupils and give informed answers. It was an excellent 80 minute session and everyone involved – from Mrs Foster down – enjoyed the experience.
