Jamie Hewitt also claimed a silver medal with an excellent run in the 200m. At the mini, minor and junior districts our Wellington pupils excelled with seven medals throughout the course of the day with large numbers of competitors in every event. Matthew Lindsay (year 10) was star of the day with a gold medal throw of over 31m in the javelin followed by a silver medal in the shot put. James Armstrong won silver in the junior boys 200m. Aaron McCord and Dillon O’Brien won bronze medals in the minor long jump and junior discus respectively. Justin Bingham and Tom Stanfield won silver and bronze in the minor boys high jump, both with the same height as the winner, only losing out on count back breaking the district record in the process.
