Wellington College staff recently took part in a Staff Development Day (5th October 2012) which focused on Special Needs specifically the needs of pupils on the Autistic Spectrum.

Francis Stewart from Oakwood Advisory Service provided the expert input with a most informative talk on the experiences of pupils with Aspergers Syndrome and how teachers can best meet the needs of these children. Staff also had the opportunity to take part in some practical workshops.

Whilst the activities, as shown in the photograph, had a fun element to them they also served the more important function of allowing staff to experience the difficulties these pupils may have in the classroom setting. Thanks to Francis Stewart and her colleagues for their expertise and delivery of this thought provoking course.
