The Wellington College Woodwind Ensemble were invited to play at a ‘Masquerade Ball’ in aid of Cancer Fund for Children at The Great Hall in Queen’s University Belfast on Saturday 17th October. The performers involved were clarinettists, Aaron Wafflart, Megan McKeown and Jade Cooke, and flautists, Kathryn Johnston, Naomi Smyth, Ethan Hutchinson, Laoise Corrigan and Mrs Elaine McCloskey. The group provided entertainment for the guests as they arrived for their champagne reception. Repertoire included: ‘In the Mountain King’ and ‘Morning’ from Peer Gynt by Grieg; ‘Winter’ from The Four Seasons by Vivaldi; ‘Troika’ by Prokofiev; ‘Il Mio Tesoro’ by Mozart with Jade Cooke as soloist; and ‘March Militaire’ by Schubert. The group were complemented on their high standard of playing and varied repertoire and look forward to their future engagements this year.
