Dear parent/guardian

You may have become aware recently from the media that a new app for mobile phones called SimSimi allows highly offensive messages to be sent anonymously.  The app has been linked to very unpleasant incidents of cyber-bullying and has already been banned in the Republic of Ireland such has been the detrimental impact on young people. 

Our pupils have been strongly advised through the pastoral teams not to have this app on their phone.  I would also seek your support in asking your son/daughter not to download this app onto their phone. 

The College policy on mobile devices states that they should be switched off during the College day.  Mobile devices should only be switched on at the request of a member of staff during a lesson for educational purposes. 

Mobile devices being used in any other circumstance may be confiscated until the end of the College day.
