KS3 pupils had a chance to experience a hands on 8-bit computing revolution from the 1980’s thanks to Allstate NI and facilitated by Gary at The Code Show.  The NI Skills Barometer indicates a deficit workforce in IT qualifications with pupils leaving schools. 

When higher paid IT careers are a rising industry in NI, it is important to inform pupils of options before GCSE choices in year 10.  The primary focus is girls, who make up less than 15% of the workforce.  The Code Show NI is designed to ignite a spark of interest in IT careers.
