Samuel and Bradley receiving their Nuffield Research award

Nuffield Research Project Success

10 Oct

The Nuffield Research Placement is an opportunity for students to complete research within an area of STEM. Both Bradley’s and Samuel’s placements were with Ulster University. Over the course of a few weeks, they completed research before presenting their findings through a report and poster.

Bradley researched artificial intelligence and machine learning for advanced facial recognition.
“This gave me an opportunity to learn more about this field while improving my research and scientific knowledge. I have never completed research in this manner in the past and it gave me an idea into how research is conducted.”

Samuel researched STEM education and how it was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Although the majority of my research was done independently, the support provided by my supervisor and peers was invaluable and taught me a plethora of skills related to communication, collaboration, and report-writing. My Nuffield Research Placement was a fantastic experience, and I would recommend any Year 13s interested in STEM to consider signing up.”
