Congratulations to Year 14 pupil Laoise, who has gained second place in the final of a prestigious UK wide Music Composing Competition. Only 2 people in all of the UK reached the final at this age group.
The MusicFirst UK Young Composers Competition is an annual competition open to students in the United Kingdom ages 11-18 who compose their own original scores.
Laoise attended a live, virtual Masterclass with renowned composer Judith Weir recently during which she provided a commentary on each of the finalists’ work.  This is a fantastic achievement from a superb WCB student.
Well done must also go to Mrs Hodgins for organising Laoise’s entry and spending time performing and recording her performance as well as guiding her through the composition process.
