On Friday 24th February 2023, as part of our series of invitations to our local South Belfast MLAs, Wellington College hosted Kate Nicholl from The Alliance party to present a talk for our Year 14 pupils and undertake a Question & Answer session. Ms Nicholl spoke about her early years in Zimbabwe and her subsequent move to Northern Ireland.

The Question & Answer session saw an interesting discussion between Ms Nicholl and our pupils on issues including Irish unity, the Supreme Court verdict on Shamima Begum, education, and the cost-of-living crisis. There were also lighter moments as Kate revealed that her favourite musician was George Ezra and that she would like Florence Pugh to play her in a film. Our Year 14 students found the talk extremely engaging, and we would thank Kate for coming into Wellington College.
